As the agency of medical information informs, "AMI-TASS", October 28, the State Duma of Russia introduced a draft law about banning advertising of biologically active additives (BAA) on television, radio and print media.

The author of the bill - a member of fraction "Fair Russia", the leader of movement "Our project is Health" A. Belyakov, who had initiated the introduction of legislation banning advertising of medical products in non-specialized media. He proposes to advertise BAA only in the medical and pharmaceutical journals and on the specialized exhibitions and conferences. The relevant amendments are made in the article №25 of the Federal Law "On Advertising”.

BAA market in Russia is growing rapidly. "At present throughout the country are circulated more than 6 thousand names of BAA, 1825 of which have been registered only this year " – the deputy informed. Moreover, in his opinion, the quality of sold supplements does not stand any criticism. If the medicine before to reach the pharmacy, pass multi-level testing, for the production of BAA such procedures isn»t required, so that is extremely profitable for the producer.

But the main danger of BAA, in his opinion, lies in the fact that sellers position BAA like medicines. "In a pursuit of profit they don»t stop to advertise BAA as miracle medicines that able to cure the incurable disease ... As a rule, the victims of such aggressive advertising are pensioners and people despaired to cure the disease. Scammers make money on the sadness and trustfulness of citizens ", - said the deputy.

A. Belyakov is sure that swindlers can distribute fake pills by aggressive advertising, BAA advertised especially actively by radio and in print media. The prohibition of such advertising of BAA in non-specialized media, said the developer of the legislative initiative, would block the fraudsters» access to consumers. "I believe that BAA should be prescribed only by doctors, so the ads should be designed only for professionals ", - concluded the deputy.
