To win and rapidly expand the share in the pharmaceutical market is not easy. Russian pharmaceutical company Promo-Med has been managing to do it already for four years. The Chief Executive Officer of Promo-med Elena Palevskaya tells us about the secret of success of Promo-med s generics and about the most successful one – Reduxine.

- Many Russian consumers still have a prejudice against drugs-generics. How does your company solve this problem? 


- Indeed, in Russia, many doctors and patients are wary about the generics, even though they constitute more than 78% of the registered drugs in the country. To solve this problem, it is important to show consumers that the influence of generics on the body is identical to the original drug s impact. Therefore, from the first days of our work we set out to prove scientifically not only therapeutic efficiency of each medicine s output to the market, but also its complete safety and compliance with the requirements to the original means. The company started its activity on the Russian market from promotion of Neosmektin, the first generic of Smecta, a new generation adsorbent for gastro-intestinal dyspepsia treatment. Currently, this medicine has taken a decent share of the market and has proved its efficacy and safety. 

- How did the most successful and effective preparation of your company - Reduxine appear? 

- As we deal first of all with production of social important products, the choice of the drug for the obesity treatment and weight loss is not by chance. The period from the making the decision to the Reduxine placing in pharmacy was less than a year - this is a very short period of time. But work of companies such as ours, in contrast to giant pharmaceutical corporations, is characterized by high efficiency and rate in making decision. 

- Reduxine appeared in retail sales on the following day after the expiration of patent protection for the medicine-brand Meridia, and quickly began to conquer the market ... 

- Indeed, according to Pharmexpert, sales of Reduxine grow on average by 116% from month to month, and this is despite the fact that the market of these drugs is declining recently.

- What methods of medicine s promotion do you use?

- We work with the doctors directly. According to a survey, for example, among endocrinologists, recognition of Reduxine is 100% now. That is, doctors know our product and perfectly understand its strong points: quick absorption, efficiency in rapid weight loss and maintaining of the results. Besides, in contrast to other drugs for treatment of obesity and weight loss, Reduxine lowers arterial blood pressure, which is usually increased among the overweight people. 

- You are the only Russian pharmaceutical company which conducts clinical test of medicines. What do the studies of Reduxine say? 

- The mechanism of Reduxine action is well researched. It is well tolerated and is not addictive, even for prolonged use. There is a gradual but constant weight reduction, while getting the Reduxine course. After its cancellation the recovered metabolism allows not to gain weight for a very long period. Everything is confirmed by our clinical research. 

- How does the drug effect? 

- Reduxine is a sibutramine, exerts an influence on both sides of the energy balance: energy intake and expenditure. On the one hand, decreases energy intake in the organism due to rapidly appeared sense of satiety, as a consequence, reduces the amount of consumed food. You do not have to put tremendous efforts to refrain from another snack. On the other hand, the energy expenditure increases, because Reduxine effects on thermogenesis. In other words, a person spends more energy to warm the body. As a result, thanks to Reduxine a man gets used to eat less, because the feeling of satiety occurs more quickly and lasts longer.
